<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the charging time of a secondary battery through simple circuitry by limiting the charging current of the secondary battery depending on the current consumption of a controller. SOLUTION: A notebook type personal computer comprises a main unit 30 and a docking station 40 docked through a docking connector 50 wherein a printer 42 is built in the docking station 40. If the charging operation is performed when power is turned on, the data of power consumption is previously captured for each operation mode in order to grasp current power consumption. When the printer 42 is not operating, excess power of an AC adapter can be determined by calculating power consumption of the entire system. When the charging operation is started at that moment of time, a secondary battery can be charged with a limit charging current comparable to the excess power and the limit charging current can be increased. According to the arrangement, charging time of the secondary battery can be shortened.</p> |
