The invention relates to a method for producing steel rolling bearing rings starting from a hot-rolled tube with a structure which is similar to the structure of spheroidite, and rings of the same continuous length which are hot-separated with the addition of a lubricant and re-processed after cooling. The invention is characterized in that hot separation occurs at a temperature which is below the transformation temperature of the steel used for the rolling bearings but above 720 DEG C, followed by cooling in static air, and in that a green or soft ring pertaining to the rolling bearing ring is produced from the raw ring with narrow form element tolerances by means of optimized time-pulsed further machining when cold, wherein most of said cold machining occurs by rotation.
