PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively and industrially advantageously obtain a polyprenol useful as a preventive/therapeutic agent for human or animal diseases due to immunodysfunction, by reaction of a specific compound with an alkali metal organic complex. SOLUTION: This polyprenol of formula II (R is H or a protecting group for hydroxyl group) is obtained by reaction of a compound of formula I (V is a halogen atom and W and X are each a carbon-carbon bond, or X is a halogen atom and V and W are each a carbon-carbon bond; Y and Z are each H or a carbon-carbon bond; A is s protecting group for hydroxyl group; (n) is an integer of 0 or >=1) with an alkali metal organic complex, pref. a complex composed of an alkali metal selected from sodium or lithium and a polycyclic aromatic compound selected from naphthalene, methylnaphthalene or anthracene, in the presence of an ether-based solvent (e.g. diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran) while adding a lower alkylamine (e.g. butylamine, diethylamine) to the reaction system. |
