The heater consists of a number of flat heating elements (14.14O) assembled in a block and held between two parallel plates (16,17,18). The heating elements are silicon heating elements in common use. The plates have U-shaped pockets (24) in which the ends of the heaters are held between two plates. The pockets can be formed by folds in the plates. Between two parallel heating elements a corrugated rib can be provided which is joined to an uncoated side of a carrier layer of the elements.
