<p>The invention relates to an expandable insert which can be used as a vascular support in blood vessels, wherein said insert can be plastically deformed from a non-expanded into an expanded state by applying a radial force which is directed from the inside outwards. The inventive insert comprises at least one tubular substantially cylindrical base body section, whose outer surface consists of a plurality of meander-shaped peripheral rings forming a single-piece material strand of a specific length. The insert is particularly rigid in relation to the externally operating radial forces since it is provided with a first group of rings whose length substantially corresponds to the perimeter of the insert when expanded and with a second group of rings which are longer than the perimeter of the insert when expanded.</p> |
