SUPPORT TOOL FOR DEEP ROLLING CRANKSHAFT FILLETS

Deep rolling equipment for cold working fillet radii of annular undercuts (F, F') on opposite sides of crankshaft journals has pairs of jaws (42, 43) movable between an open position for receiving the crankshaft journals and a closed position for rolling the fillets. The upper jaw (140) mounts fillet rolling tools (146, 146') for high load rolling engagement in the undercuts. The lower tool (141) has a pair of support rollers (170) with annular journal support portions (174, 177) and annular flanges (181, 183) outboard of the support portions with large diameters which engage in the undercuts and limit the lateral movement of the crankshaft with respect to the rolling and support tools.
