<p>A dry storage installation for radioactive substances (1) includes therein a storage chamber (2) defined by a pair of side walls (4A and 4B) opposing each other, a floor slab (5) and a ceiling slab (6). A plurality of storage pipes (10) each storing used fuel assemblies are disposed inside the storage chamber (2) while the upper ends of the storage pipes (10) are held by the ceiling slab (6). The distance between the side walls (4A and 4B) decreases gradually from the suction duct (7) side to the exhaust duct (8) side. Air flows inside the storage chamber (2) and cools the storage pipes (10). The longitudinal sectional area of the air passage inside the storage chamber (2) decreases gradually towards the exhaust duct (8) side and the air velocity increases. Therefore, the cooling efficiency of the storage pipes (10) on the exhaust duct side (8) increases.</p> |
