Transverse filtration process used for separating finest particles from suspensions and aerosols at low or high concentrations

A novel method separates and reduces fine particle fractions in suspensions and aerosols. It employs a filter medium in a flow channel. This retains the separated particles and is penetrated by the flow of continuous phase. The dispersion first flows across the filter medium, forming a deposited layer of fine particle fraction. The dispersion containing non-deposited particles is led off. The deposited layer is removed from the filter medium, recovering the fine particle fraction.
