摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a change of transmission ratio of steering angle to wheels by providing a rotating force transmitting means, which can be displaced in the axial direction of a pinion, between a conical pinion, which is connected to a steering wheel, and a rack bar, of which both ends are connected to a steering shaft and which is positioned in parallel with the pinion. SOLUTION: In the case of high-speed traveling, a ball guide 20 is moved downward in the axial direction of a pinion 12 by a gear ratio variable actuator 18, and a ball 16 is positioned between a small diameter part of the conical pinion 12 and a rack bar 10. In the case of low-speed traveling, the ball guide 20 is moved upward in the axial direction, and positioned between the large diameter part of the conical pinion 12 and the rack bar 10. When the pinion 12 is rotated with the operation of a steering wheel, this rotating angle is converted to the moved variable of the rack bar 10 in the horizontal direction through the ball 16. Transmission ratio of the steering angle to the wheels when the ball 16 is positioned at the small diameter part of the pinion 12 is larger in comparison with the case where the ball 16 is positioned at the large diameter part of the pinion 12.</p>
