Plug valve system consists of: an elongated portion of a cylindrical tube with a standard inner diameter; a housing formed of an elongated cylinder of resilient plastic material, this cylindrical housing being so dimensional that it can be endwise inserted into the tube section, the housing and having an axial boring for providing oppositely placed inlet and outlet ports, and also a boring between the parts for providing a valve plug chamber with open ends diametrically relative to the housing. A pair of oppositely placed openings in the tube wall, each of which are in line with an open end of the plug chamber. An elongated valve plug is axially rotatable in the housing and has a plug part in line with the parts of the valve housing so that the opposite ends of the plug project through the openings in the tube wall. The plug may be rotated from one end of it, the other end having a reduced diameter to provide an annular shoulder. The cylindrical plastic housing has an annular seating on the bottom side of the plug chamber for receiving the shoulder, and the reduced end which forms a screw threaded bolt-shaped part and is intended to restrict a clamping nut for restricting the axial movement of the plug in one direction. Used in systems for transporting fluids by means of thin walled pipes formed of Cu, stainless steel, etc. The plug valve can be placed in a pipe system with a minimum of time and work. It is very resistant to corrosion. The valve housing is made entirely from Teflon (RTM). The material of the tube is pressed in an annular manner into the resilient material of the valve housing at a place near the plug chamber. |
