The timber forms a 30mm rebate (5) round the formwork for a concrete column (1) where it connects to a suspended slab (3) is holed to receive rows of short parallel steel bars (2) angled at about 45deg to the plane of the joint. When the formwork is struck, half the length of the bars (2) project from all the column faces. Alternatively, the rows of bars (2) may be mounted on a steel plate (7) by welding the bars centrally at 45deg in pre-drilled holes (8). The bar assembly is then concreted into the column and the slab poured against the projecting half of the bars. |
