A fuel filter comprises a housing internally divided by a filter screen (1) into an upstream chamber (A) and downstream chamber (B), the flow in chamber (B) being generally parallel to the screen surface while lateral walls (2a) in chamber (B) extend perpendicular to the flow and to the screen to create quiescent zones (7) in which solid debris settles. Also claimed is a fuel system in a vehicle's internal combustion engine and equipped with the filter.
