PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a (poly)alkylene glycol monoalkyl ether in high reaction rate, high selectivity and high yield while keeping the catalyst activity constant by reacting a (poly)alkylene glycol with an olefin by using a crystalline metalosilicate as a catalyst and reusing a part of the catalyst after finishing the reaction. SOLUTION: This method for reacting (A) a 2-40C olefin having an ethylenically unsaturated bond, e.g. dodecene, with (B) a (poly)alkylene glycol, e.g. monoethylene glycol in the presence of (C) a crystalline metalosilicate having a BEA structure as a catalyst to obtain the objective product in high reaction rate, high selectivity and high yield, includes a step for regenerating the catalyst C obtained by recovering the component B from unreacted component B slurry containing the catalyst C at <=180 deg.C and by heat treating the recovered catalyst C under an atmosphere containing oxygen gas at >=500 deg.C, and a step for performing cyclic use of the regenerated catalyst while keeping the regenerating amount to 0.5-50wt.% in the catalyst. |
