The present invention explains how guava (Psidium Pomiferum), aromatic fruit, from myrtaceous family, contains comparatively with other fruits, a great quantity of ascorbic acid or Vitamin C (202 milligrams per 100 grams of fruit); nevertheless, up until now, guava has not been an obtention source for this vitamin, so important for men. Guava ascorbic acid can be extracted, by scalding fruit with hot alkaline solution and macerating pulp in 5 percent methaphosphoric acid solution, then separating liquid from solid by centrifugation. Adding lime slurry to liquid phase and filtering. Filtrate is hydrolyzed with oxalic acid which can be recuperated, ascorbic acid remaining solved and being capable of being vacuum crystallized and cooling solution.
