PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact carbon dioxide gas laser oscillator reinforcing the protection against abnormal discharge. SOLUTION: In a carbon dioxide gas laser oscillator, provided with a discharge tube B1 connecting a high voltage DC power supply F1 to a pair of electrodes comprising an anode electrode A1 and a cathode electrode K1, conductors S1 and S3 connecting to non-grounding electrodes are arranged on the periphery of one or both of the pair of electrodes and on the outer periphery of the discharge tube B1, excluding the pair of the electrodes. Further, the oscillator is provided with an abnormal current detecting circuit ND connecting to the grounding potential and the zero potential terminal 7 of a high-voltage DC power supply F1, having a plus output terminal 11 and a minus output terminal 13 and zero potential terminal 7 assuming a commercial power supply PS as an input, as well as an abnormal discharge discriminating circuit CN, outputting an output stopping signal Cn to the high voltage DC power supplies F1 and F2, when a detected value Nd in the abnormal current detecting circuit ND exceeds an abnormal discharge discriminating reference value Nr. |
