DIFFUSION PATTERN PROCESS AND SCREEN THEREFOR

An organic film is patterned non-photographically by applying a patterned imaging layer (10) to a solid organic polymer to contact and change the solubility of at least one, pref. two, unpatterned layers (9). This forms a compiled body on a substrate by screen printing with a screen having polygonal shaped apertures each of whose sides is recessed. The agent is dried to diffuse the solubility change agent from the imaging layer the unpatterned layer(s). The patterned imaging layer and the patterned areas of the unpatterned layer(s) are removed by washing the compiled body with an eluant. Also claimed is a non-photographic process for making fine channel patterns in organic films.
