PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple and compact device having a cost effect and a reliability for reading out of and/or writing in an optical recording medium having an added optical element capable of being inserted into a beam path. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a light source for generating a beam, a focusing means 18 for focusing the beam on the recording layer of an optical recording medium, an added optical element 1 being inserted into a beam path and a moving means for inserting it into or detaching from the beam path and reading out of or writing in the optical recording medium 16 is performed. The moving means is formed by a mechanical actuating element 20 arranged outside an area provided for reading from or writing in the optical recording medium 16.
