A gas leakage sensing apparatus and a method using the same are provided to determine the leakage of the exhaust gas near a flange by installing additional oxygen sensors between the flange and a UCC(Under floor Catalytic Converter) and using the sensing signals of a rear oxygen sensor. A gas leakage sensing apparatus comprises: a WCC(Warm up Catalytic Converter,110) and a UCC(111) connected through a flange(117); a rear oxygen sensor(113) located between the WCC and the flange; an additional oxygen sensor(125) located between the flange and the UCC; and an electronic control unit electrically connected to the additional oxygen sensor and the rear oxygen sensor. The electronic control unit computes the difference between the amplitude of the first signal sensed by the rear oxygen sensor and the amplitude of the second signal sensed by the additional oxygen sensor and determines the leakage of the exhaust gas according to the comparison result of the difference and standard value.
