Arrangement of non-return valve in gas pipe of internal combustion engines

A valve closing body (3) is mounted in an expansion chamber (4) of the gas pipe which widens out opposite a throttle section (8) of the pipe into a damping chamber (9) in which the pressure peaks entering from the gas pipe can relax. Apart from the non-return valve action lower pressures than the atmospheric pressure do not result in opening of the valve since the pressure peaks relax as they enter the expansion chamber.
