<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reliability of airtightness when capping a nozzle and thereby, effectively prevent an ink from becoming dry by pressing a cap in the nozzle direction with the help of an elastic force by an elastic member which supports the cap elastically at the time of capping the nozzle, and consequently, increasing the closing capability. SOLUTION: If a carriage 40 is moved from a printing area to a service area, the carriage 40 is moved to a position for a service station part 60, passing through an area above the wiper 632 of a wiper part 630. Further, if the carriage 40 passes through the upper part of a cap part 620, a pressure protrusion 41 provided on the carriage 40 depresses the pressure piece 621b of a cap case 621. Consequently, the pressure piece 621b is moved with the pressure protrusion 41 and the cap case 621 is also moved. In this case, a guide bar 621c is caused to gradually ascend through a guide groove 611 formed in a case 610. Then the cap case 621 and a cap 624 are lifted to a specified elevation and the cap 624 envelops a nozzle on a printing head to close the nozzle airthghtly.</p> |
