PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read double sides of an original nearly at the same time by reading both the sides of the original with a couple of read sections arranged close to each other, making a read light incident onto a couple of linear image sensors via a single read lens respectively and by having only to move the original in one direction. SOLUTION: An original is being carried sequentially with feed rollers 2-5 and information on the front and rear sides of the original is read when the original passes through a lower side read section 6 and an upper side read section 7. The read light is made incident onto a couple of image sensors 16, 17 respectively via a single read lens 15. Thus, the information of both front and rear sides of the original is read almost simultaneously so as to quicken the read speed. Furthermore, the read lens 15 is used in common and a changeover mechanism such as a mirror is not in use, then the cost is reduced. Furthermore, since the read light from a read section 7 at an opposite side to a read unit 14 is in crossing in a front side of the carrying path so as to arrange the moving path and the optical path system overlapping with each other, then the entire configuration is formed compact. |
