In a modulation and demodulation system for exchanging data between a terminal unit and a communication network, when the terminal unit is not connected, in response to data reception from the communication network, the reception data is temporarily stored in a memory. When the terminal unit is connected, the data is read out from the memory to transfer to the terminal unit. By this, even when the terminal unit is not connected to the data modulation and demodulation system, disposal of the reception data is not required. On the other hand, upon storage of the reception data to the memory, by storing the data compression, reduction of the memory capacity becomes possible. |
