The covering profile has a C-shaped section (2) with the smooth side of the C-section forming the visible surface. The open side of the C-section has a recess (6) for a connector or retainer. The retainer can be formed as a holding plate with connecting legs (9). The retainer plate can be attached to the open side of the C-section by form locking. the plate can be rectangular. Both smaller sides (1-0) of the retainer plate can each have two diagonal overlapping corners (11).
