The lamp housing has an opening (140) for the lamp glass at the front and a buttress formed in the rear wall of the housing, between the recesses for the lamp bulbs (110,120). The buttress projects forward toward the front of the lamp. The wall (131-133) of the lamp housing in the region of the buttress is braced by moulding the wall into bands (135, 136) that are offset alternately toward the interior and toward the exterior of the buttress. The raised and inset bands have transitions (137) that are inclined relative to the general direction of the buttress.
