A process for sealing anodised metals comprises: (a) contacting the metal with an aqueous solution at 25-35 deg C for 3 seconds to 15 minutes, the solution containing 0.01-1 g/l dissolved phosphate and having a pH of 6-11; and (b) contacting with water or an aqueous solution of sealing coating-preventing substances having a pH of 5.5-8.5, at 50-100 deg C for 5 -20 minutes.
