The door hinge for a drop-down appliance door (1) has a fixing lever (11) secured to the appliance and coupled via a linkage bolt (15) to a tension lever (12), coupled to the door hinge lever (16) at its opposite end via a further linkage bolt (14). The weight of the door is counter-balanced via an adjustable door spring (20), secured between a fixed point of the appliance housing and the lever mechanism (11,12). The fixing lever and the tension lever form an angle of 180 degrees in the open position of the door, with the door spring extending at right angles.
