PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor base body having no quality change of the surface at a low cost by machining an aluminum cylinder of a base body, cleaning the body with an oil within a specified time after machining, and applying a photosensitive layer thereon. SOLUTION: In the production of an electrophotographic photoreceptor, an aluminum cylinder for a base body is machined and cleaned with an oil within 30min after machining, and then a photosensitive layer is applied thereon. Namely, by cleaning an aluminum base body with an oil within 30min after machining an aluminum cylinder for the base body, preferably within 15min, a base body having stable surface property without irregularity due to cut chips can be obtd. The photosensitive layer applied on the obtd. base body consists of a charge producing layer and a charge transfer layer having 0.1-3μm thickness and 10-50μm thickness, respectively. The coating method is not limited, and usually, dipping or spraying method can be used. By this method, the obtd. electrophotographic photoreceptor causes little image defect when used.
