PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high resolution and print quality without causing any blur by performing the printing while attracting only the toner particles in ink to a recording medium through an electric field formed by an electrophoretic electrode and a jet electrode. SOLUTION: When an offset voltage is applied to an electrophoretic electrode, an electric field is formed between the electrophoretic electrode and a jet electrode 2 and toner particles migrate to be collected at a jet hole 3. When a voltage pulse is applied to the jet electrode 2, an electric field is formed between the jet electrode 2 and a counter electrode 7 and the toner particles, collected at the jet hole 3, is jetted in group from a meniscus toward the counter electrode 7. The jetted group of toner particles adheres to a recording medium P. On the other hand, reduced toner particles in the vicinity of jet hole 3 are supplemented by supplying toner particles through electrophoresis from the rear of a jet cell 1 thus preparing for continuous jetting. The operation is repeated to form a toner image on the recording medium P. According to the method, high resolution and high print quality can be realized. |
