PROCESS FOR PREPARING ALUMINA SUPPORT

A starting material comprising 90 to 20 % by weight of an alumina having a particle aspect ratio of 1 to 5 and 10 to 80 % by weight of an alumina powder having a particle aspect ratio of 10 to less than 10,000 is kneaded and molded, and the molding is fired to prepare an alumina catalyst support. The obtained support has a high strength and also such a pore diameter distribution as will provide a good catalytic activity.
