摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy for a battery capable of increasing the capacity of an electrode and lengthening the life of a battery by specifying the kind and the composition ratio of elements constituting the alloy. SOLUTION: A hydrogen storage alloy for a battery is constituted with the alloy having the composition represented by formula ABx . (A is La, Ce, Pr, and Nd, the weight ratio of La in A is 70-90%, Nd is 5% or less, B is at least one kind of element selected from the group comprising Ni, Co, Fe, Cr, Mn, Cu, Al, Ga, Si, Ge, Bi, Sn, In, P, V, Nb, Ta, Mo, and W, X is the atomic ratio of 4.5<=X<=5.6.) The hydrogen storage alloy for the battery having excellent hydrogen storage characteristics and corrosion resistance can be obtained. When the alloy is used as a negative electrode material, the capacity of the battery is increased, the deterioration of the alloy by the formation of fine powder caused by an electrolyte is prevented, and the life of a nickel hydrogen storage secondary battery is lengthened.
