PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-reflectance protective film-coated optical component which allows easy handling of a very small light emitting element or a light emitting element aggregate and which can make a packaging process simple and also provide a method for manufacturing such a component. SOLUTION: When manufacturing an optical component which is constituted of a light emitting element or light emitting element aggregate 1 and electric circuit components, all of which are mounted on a wiring board 3, the light emitting element or light emitting element aggregate 1 and the electric circuit components 2 are mounted on the wiring board 3 and then the entire body of the optical component is coated with a protective film of a high reflectance to get a light emitting section of the light emitting element or light emitting element aggregate coated with the protective film of a high reflectance.
