An apparatus (10) combines two constituent loose materials to form a composite loose material and immediately deposits the composite loose material in a worksite area. The apparatus includes a single combining channel (34) for forming the composite loose material, and a separate hopper (12, 74) for each of the constituent loose materials which supply the constituent loose materials to the single combining channel (34). A single motor (16) is used for supplying both constituent loose materials to the combining channel (34). One hopper (74) includes an auger (86) driven by the motor (16) through a drive train (24) and an easily accessible gear (102) for extracting the constituent loose material therefrom. The ratio of the constituent loose materials in the composite loose material is changed by replacing the gear (102) by rotating the one hopper (74) to disengage the gear (102) from the drive train (24), replacing the gear (102), and then rotating the one hopper (74) back until the replacement gear engages the drive train (24).
