PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To continuously perform operation of a pump and to shorten working time and to keep clarity of working atmosphere by forming weirs with a speci fied height by a specified interval on the circumference on the top end of a suction hole of a container for clarification. SOLUTION: Weirs 9 with a certain height are formed at a certain interval on the circumference on the top end of a suction hole 6a of a container 6 for clarification. The gaps can be made to sing deeper by forming the weirs 9 and the water flow on the surface layer flowing into the container from the suction hole 6a become slow. As the result, refuses flow together thereznto. In this case, the weirs 9 are arranged on the circumference at an appropriate interval so as to make water flow into from the whole directions. In addition, the sum of the length of the weirs 9 is pref. a half of the circumference and the height of the weirs made to be such a height that does not drag air thereinto even if there exists a little waving. By doing So, air is not dragged even if there exists fluctuation of liq. level caused by waving to make continuous operation possible.
