THINNING METHOD, INTERPOLATION METHOD FOR DIGITAL IMAGE AND TRANSMITTER USING THE METHODS

PURPOSE: To obtain a thinning method, an interpolation method of a digital image and a transmitter using the methods in which thinning processing and interpolation processing are conducted with a simple arithmetic operation taking a human visual characteristic into account in the case of sending digital image data. CONSTITUTION: A data thinning section 81 assignes a mean value of four luminance data extracted by a CPU 7 to be luminance data of a reduced digital image in the case of thinning processing and predetermined color difference data from four color difference data as color difference data of a reduced digital image representatively. On the other hand, a data interpolation section 82 refers to the four luminance data selected by the CPU 7 in the case of interpolation processing to generate luminance data of the magnified digital image and makes four copies from one piece of color difference data with respect to the color difference data to generate color difference data of the digital image by one frame.
