A stud feeder for a stud welder (10) Comprises: (a) a magazine (40), extending parallel to the welder axis (A) and holding studs (43) in an orientation different from their welding position; and (b) an entrainment device (26) for transferring the leading stud from the magazine to the electrode (14) of the welder. The novelty is that the entrainment device (26) guides a stud (43) along an arcuate path (pref. a quadrant) from the magazine (40) to the electrode (14).
