PURPOSE: To obtain the bright halogen lamp with long service life and the original lighting device using the lamp immune to shock and vibration or the like in the copying operation and with an improved lighting efficiency. CONSTITUTION: The linear halogen lamp is formed by arranging plural filaments 20 each comprising alternate assembly of a light emitting section 1 and a non- light emitting section 2 in a cylindrical glass tube 5 on a line. At least part of the cross sectional shape is formed flat except at both ends of the glass tube.
