PURPOSE: To prevent a delay in steering assistance by speeding up a pump to an auxiliary steering speed at least when an auxiliary steering condition is satisfied, and forcedly speeding up the pump regardless of a condition when the auxiliary steering speed is under a reference speed in case of changing the auxiliary steering speed corresponding to vehicle speed. CONSTITUTION: A power steering device 1 is adapted to steer wheels by transmitting the rotation of an input shaft 2 caused by steering a steering wheel H through a torsion bar 3 to a pinion 7 to move a rack 8. On the other hand, the device is provided with a hydraulic actuator 18 for applying auxiliary steering force. A detection signal from a vehicle speed sensor 53 is input to a control device 52, and the control device controls 52 controls a motor 50 for driving a pump 37 for supplying pressure oil to the hydraulic actuator 18. That is, at least when an auxiliary steering condition is satisfied, the pump 37 is speeded up to an auxiliary steering speed, and the auxiliary steering speed is changed according to vehicle speed. In this case, when it is under a reference speed, the pump 37 is forcedly speeded up regardless of a condition. |
