Fault current in the equipment is detected by a pref. fusible resistance (10) in a brittle insulating housing (6) contg. a small explosive charge (11) which blows the Al or alloy casing (4) into two separate parts (12, 13) contg. the respective electrodes (7, 8). The explosion renders visible the coloured coating (16) on the outside of the one part (13), and also establishes a galvanic connection for diversion of the fault current. Gas is ejected in predetermined directions through openings (15) in the other part (12) which may incorporate filters to confine solid particles within the casing. |
