PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop excellent function within a wide humidity range by adding one or more inorg. particles to the surface coating layer of a medium and one or more polymer substance to the lower coating layer of the medium in specific wt. ratios on the basis of the total wt. ratio of the solid components of the respective layers. SOLUTION: The lower layer of an ink jet recording medium is mainly composed of one or more polymer substance of which the content is about 60-100%, pref., about 70-100% by wt. of the total solid of the lower layer and the surface layer thereof is mainly composed of one or more fine inorg. particles of which the content is about 75-100%, pref., about 80-100% by wt. of the total solid of the surface layer. Herein, the fine inorg. particles impart excellent image resolving power and high optical density and the polymer substance in the lower layer functions as the storage tank of an ink medium. The lower layer shows dye fixing action when a dye fixing substance like a polymeric quaternary ammonium salt is present. |
