FIELD: organic chemistry. SUBSTANCE: olefin polymerization catalyst comprises transition metal selected from Group IIIA including lanthanides of Groups IVA, VA, VIA, VIIA and VIII, and ligands Land Lassociated therewith in which combination of Land Lis (1) combination of ligand Lwhich is group containing at least one phosphorus-containing group and ligand Lwhich is ligand having σ-bond, or ligand having s-bond and bond selected from at least one p-bond and at least one electron donor bond formed by electron pair, (2) combination of ligand Lwhich is 5-membered helerocyclic pentadentate ligand having one or more heteroatoms, and ligand Lwhich is ligand having σ- bond, or ligand having s-bond and bond selected form at least one p-bond and at least one electron donor bond formed by free electron pair provided that when pentadentate ligand contains only one heteroatom, Lis ligand having σ-bond and at least one electron donor bond formed by free electron pair, and (3) combination of ligand Lwhich is tripyrazolyl-tridentate ligand, and ligand Lwhich is alkapolyenyl ligand, and where each Lcontains element of Group VB or Group VI B. Catalyst of the present invention has exceedingly high catalytic activity: with respect to olefin polymerization reaction as compared with standard olefin polymerization catalysts.
