<p>A refrigerator (10) having a cabinet (14) defining a first compartment (20) and a second compartment (22) separated from each other by a divider wall (18) wherein the divider wall (18) has an air passage (34,38) for communicating between the first and second compartments. The refrigerator further includes an evaporator (24) disposed in the first compartment (20), a compressor (39) fluidly connected with the evaporator (24) for moving refrigerant therethrough, and an evaporator fan (26) for moving air over the evaporator (24). A first thermostat (80) senses temperature within the first compartment (20) and a second thermostat (82) senses temperature within the second compartment (22). An evaporator fan and baffle control system is provided including a baffle (12) disposed within the air passage (34) and being positionable in an open or closed position for selectively opening and closing the air passage (34). A switch is operatively associated with the baffle (12) for connecting the first thermostat (80) and the evaporator fan (26) in series with a power supply when the baffle (12) is in the closed position and for further connecting the second thermostat (82) and the evaporator fan (26) in series with the power supply when the baffle (12) is in the open position. The baffle control system includes a cam (68) driven by a baffle motor (62) wherein the cam (68) is coupled to a baffle (12) for moving the baffle (12) between an open and closed position. A plurality of switches (84,86,88), operated by the cam (68), are provided for controlling the energization of the motor (62) such that the baffle (12) is opened when the fresh food compartment (22) requires cooling and the baffle (12) is closed when the fresh food compartment (22) does not require cooling.</p> |
