In the controlled drawing of one or more optical fibres, the process comprises: (i) imposing a defilement speed Ve = dxe/dt on the fibre entering the furnace; (ii) choosing a law (f) for the variation of the dia. Ds of the fibre such that Ds = f(xs) in which xs represents the variable positions in the time that the fibre leaves the furnace; and (iii) operating successive drawings on the fibre in order to modify at each time the dia.
