Roasting oven of fireclay

The oven interior has internal V-shaped supports which are formed in the wall of the bottom dish to accommodate roasting spits or grilles. The spits are immediately below the top edge of the bottom dish (1), being pref. incorporated in the end walls (2) where this is oblong. Their supporting surfaces (4) slope gently downwards to the longitudinal axis (5) of the bottom dish, so that any mating spit is automatically centred. At one of the supports there can be an aperture in the wall and open to the top, so that the spit can be turned from the outside without lifting the top dish forming the cover.
