PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for assembling an arbor consisting of plural parts speedily and accurately. SOLUTION: A spool 10 including a core 12 and end disks 18, 24 retained by tabs 16, 22 is assembled by sliding each end disk on the core so as to approach the related tab, contacting the end disks with tools 106, 228-252 at least at one position, then rotating the tools to closely engaging the end disks past the tabs one by one. At that time, a transducer assembly measures axial force applied to the core and detects successful installation of each end disk.
