PURPOSE:To prevent deformation, fusion, variation in composition, etc., of piezoelectric elements from occurring by sticking a fusion inhibitory powder having a specified composition to the surfaces of the compacts at the time of sintering unsintered compacts of the elements by stacking the compacts. CONSTITUTION:Unsintered compacts of the elements are produced by mixing powdery oxides such as PbO, ZrO2, TiO2, MgO, Nb2O5, then calcining the resultant powdery mixture and thereafter forming the calcined mixture into compacts. On the other hand, a fusion inhibitory powder having a composition obtained by additionally adding 0.01 to 0.08mol powdery lead oxide and 0.005 to 0.1mol powdery niobium oxide per mol of the lead content in the compact composition to the compact composition is prepared. Then, the fusion inhibitory powder is stuck to the surfaces of the unsintered compacts and thereafter the resultant compacts are stacked and sintered to form sintered compacts and to obtain lead compound-containing piezoelectric ceramic elements. Thus, the objective element excellent in electric characteristics can be manufactured in high yield. |
