<p>A method for fabricating an individually-adapted in-the-ear hearing aid shell (700) made of radiation-reactive material and a battery compartment therein opposite a top perimeter (740) of shell (700), and for forming an individualized faceplate for the shell (700) which matches the physical characteristics of the user's ear. Fabricating an individually-adapted shell (700) comprises the steps of providing a hollow positive mold of the ear cavity of the hearing aid user, the positive mold being made of molding material and having an opening at the antitragus portion of the mold for providing access to the battery compartment, placing a battery boot (720) coupled to a battery door (710) within the positive mold wherein the battery door is positioned within the opening such that the door is sufficiently flush with the outer surface of the positive mold, and finally, casting a solid mold of the resulting structure, said solid mold being made of radiation-reactive material.</p> |
