The invention pertains to an electrical detonator (1) with a casing (2), an explosive charge (3, 4) situated in the casing (2), a secondary ignition element(5) for igniting the explosive charge (3, 4) and an electronic delay circuit (7) with an end stage which causes a set, fixed delay of ignition of the secondary ignition element (5) once a start pulse has been received. To improve the timing precision while continuing to use conventional blasting machines, the invention proposes that in the casing (2) ignition wires (8) lead into a primary ignition element which upon ignition starts or activates an energy source in a delayed-action ignition element (20), thereby starting the delay circuit (7).
