Coal or mineral storage system with self-monitoring level control

A coal or mineral storage bunker suitable for regulating/balancing the input and output flows of the stored material is typically a vertical cylindrical shaft in excess of 90 metres with an internal helical; chute (7) which slows the fall of the stored product to limit fragmentation. The top (3) and bottom (2) conveyors under computer (16) control maintain an optimum stored volume (10) which is continuously monitored by a series of ultrasonic probes (4, 13, 20, 22, etc.) positioned at varying depths. The system is thus able to operate stably at considerable depth without danger of damage due to over or underloading.
