PURPOSE:To obtain a positron CT system An which a long top plate can be realized using a maternal having low radiation absorbance and the handling of an external radiation source required for transmission measurement can be facilitated with no possibility of exposing an operator and without increasing the size or the weight on the side of scanning section. CONSTITUTION:The top plate 4 of a bed for laying a subject is supported at the opposite ends thereof with the supporting parts 14, 15 being secured to the floor surface. The housing 24 for an external radiation source 21 movable on the side of a scanning section 3 while ensuring the moving distance required for scanning the whole body is installed at the supporting part 14 on the top plate 4 together with a mechanism 27 for reserving or mounting the external radiation source 21 in the housing 24 or on an external radiation source unit 11.
