PURPOSE: To provide a high speed process and a device for planing a bloom which is made of, for example, copper and is continuously cast to remove its scale. CONSTITUTION: An upper face and a lower face of a bloom are cut by a circular inward blade 16 on the left side which rotates in a face inclined by an angleγfor an axial line of the bloom, and a front surface and a rear surface thereof are cut by a circular inward blade 16 on the right side which rotates in the direction opposite to the left side in a face in which it rotates by 90 deg. for the blade 16 on the left side and is inclined by an angleγ. Consequently, it is possible to cut the bloom into substantially polygonal shape composed of elliptical arcs and plane it by moving an assembly of the blade 16 in the axial direction relatively for the bloom. |
